PaCo panel controller

The PaCo is a compact microcontroller module based on a powerful ARM7 microcontroller. It was developed to minimise electronics and programming overheads in industrial man-machine interfaces (MMIs).

The environment for these MMIs generally includes display and operator units (with protection rating) for machinery, automation devices in production, industrial PC´s and control centres in industrial systems.

The innovative communication processor can be integrated smoothly into the environment of industrial input systems. On the input side, any keyboard matrices with up to 128 keys can be connected (e.g. alphanumeric keyboards, keypads, function keypad). Mouse, trackball and touch-screen can also be connected.

On the output side, PaCo typically communicates with the industrial PC, notebook or PDA via USB (2.0/1.1) or the PS/2 interface.

The PaCo also supports communication over the RS232 port on the output side.

A further onboard high-speed serial SPI interface provides simple support of additional customer-specific requirements (A/D, D/A converters, relay outputs, digital I/O).

The compact size of only 96 x 58 mm allows simple integration into existing industrial enclosure designs - even for retrospective installations.

Programming of the keyboard via USB

ImageIts ease of programmability and configurability via the USB connector is a particular strength of the PaCo. PTool V1.2 from GEMIT is powerful and convenient PC software which makes the coding of the keyboard matrix child's play - even for technically untrained personnel.
Each key can be assigned on up to 3 layers with macro coding (up to a size of 32 bytes).
Thanks to the PaCo Flash technology, both generic programming and subsequent modifications of existing keyboard assignments can always be performed with the PCB installed.
