Melt Level Control

In order to control the level of melt metal it is required to use a senseless measurement system due to the fact that the material is very hot and cannot be touched by a sensor. The nature physics delivers some different kinds of methodes like for instance ultrasonic or laser systems. But these methods suffer from high cost disadvantage. To meet our customer requrements we have developed another system for this application using a different technique that is more easy and more cost-efficient than ultrasonic or laser.

Measurement technique: Capacity sensing

Placing two electrodes in a non-conduct medium yields to an electrical capacitor that can be measured. The value of the capacity largely depends on the gap between these both electrodes.

The Melt Level Control - System uses this effect to detect the level of the conductive melt. It basically inspects the capacity between the surface of the melt and the second electrode that is connectet to the device.

The working range of the device can be adjusted by changing it's firmware very easy. Depending on the requirements of interconnection to any machine control or PLC it's possible to setup the system with different interfaces like analog voltage IO, PWM or digital IO.
