The term non destructive testing denotes physical processes for the detection of material properties or imperfections which work without mechanical destruction. Our test devices use eddy current and ultrasound testing.
Eddy current testing
The eddy current test is an electromagnetic test process which quickly and reliably checks material areas close to the surface. The process is based on the generation of eddy currents in the material under test. An "eddy current probe", or coil, is passed over the surface of the material under test, generating small, local circular currents - "eddy currents". These eddy currents change depending on electromagnetic properties and surface quality. The eddy current probes record changes in the form of electrical signals which can then be analysed by the interfacing electronics. This process can be used on practically all conductive materials and components. Typical applications are the manufacture of pipes, poles and profile material and in the semi-finished production of pistons, pivots, bearing parts, etc.
Ultrasound testing
In ultrasound testing, short sound pulses are generated which are fired at the material under test. A real-time measurement is used to analyse the reflection of the sound waves, enabling conclusions to be drawn on the property or imperfections within the subject under test. Typical applications are section thickness measurement, fault testing in the core area, excentricity measurements, etc.
We offer a comprehensive range of test devices, sensors and analysis systems for both eddy current and ultrasound techniques
GEMIT EddyServer is an ease-of-use eddy current inspection system. To configure and display inspection results you just need to plug in the power and install a network to a desktop PC.
This very practical yet simple device is ready to use as soon as the software supplied has been installed. If desired, the device can also be controlled by LabView.
The EchoServer from GEMIT is a portable ultrasonic test device. All that is needed for configuration and for displaying readings
is a network cable (CAT-5 cable) and a desktop PC.
This very practical yet simple device is ready to use as soon as the software supplied has been installed. It is also possible to adapt the device with LabView.
The GEMIT range of master systems is used for non destructive material testing using the eddy current or ultrasound technique.
The systems are used in production lines on which destructive testing is performed quickly, and with the highest level of sensitivity, on materials – such as pipes, poles and profile material or semi-finished products such as pistons, pivots, bearing parts, etc.
Longitudinal-oriented imperfections and cracks on bare material can be detected very easily with eddy current testing using rotating sensors. During the rotation process, sensors rotate at high speed around the material under test. Longitudinal imperfections are scanned multiple times on each rotation and can therefore be detected reliably.
In order to control the level of melt metal it is required to use a senseless measurement system due to the fact that the material is very hot and cannot be touched by a sensor.
The nature physics delivers some different kinds of methodes like for instance ultrasonic or laser systems. But these methods suffer from high cost disadvantage.
To meet our customer requrements we have developed another system for this application using a different technique that is more easy and more cost-efficient than ultrasonic or laser.
